A Low Hum

Thank You

Wow. That was something else.

Thank you for making the most beautiful ten days of community and sharing that I could have possibly imagined.

I spent almost two years with this vision of a shared experience in my head - to see it embraced, to see so much love for the artists and people so caring and respectful of each other was simply overwhelming.

Thank you to the bands for making so much effort to come and play, almost forty came from overseas and the rest from all over the country - many taking a substantial amount of time away from their families and jobs. I know I hadn’t done a Camp for ten years, so there was always a risk, but your faith in me and the commitment you made never left my thoughts.

I spent close to 18-months curating this, I’ll tell the full story one day soon - but it was ridiculous. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my amazing partner, who put up with me being out late at shows most nights of the week, working long hours and spending much of the year away from home going to shows all around NZ and Australia. To have that support at home made all this possible.

I don’t even know where to start when trying to grapple with thanking the team who pulled this off. I was mentally and physically exhausted by the time Camp started and so thankful I enlisted the best group of people possible who all had my back and worked way beyond anything I’d suggested: Dan, Bonnie, Oli, Matt, Brett, Rachel, Ash, Vanessa, Baxter, Joe, Jackson, Tony, Harri, Liam, Silke, Hilarie, Ruth, James G, James W, Harry, Warwick, Darren, Danny, Jade, Rosie, Zane, Seb, Morgan, Steve, Marcus L, Marcus W, Mason, Beth, Simon, Johnny, Martin, Kenny, Iscah, Maud, Teresa, Niamh, Luke & Chloe, Angus, Erica, Tim, Eva, Lyss, Logan, Kieran, Nate, Amy Jean, Lily Paris, Ahnand, Veronica, Will, Connor, Simon, Ashley, Lora, Theo, Nicholas, Sean, Finn, anybody I left out, thank you!! All the incredible volunteers who came through for us, all the friends around NZ and Australia who helped me put on shows so I could see bands, and all the suppliers and production companies who nailed it :)

A special shout out goes to Camp Wainui managers John and Miria who trusted me with their beautiful site and went way above and beyond. John more or less kept the whole event from falling into chaos.

Ben, Ash, Ian, and Human Person. Thank you so much for all the time you devoted to Camp. I can't even explain how much it meant to me. You honoured me even being involved, but what you did will leaving a lasting impact that is immeasurable - I can't even fathom the amount of people watching performances at the Square stage who will forever be inspired. Thinking back to that silly sketch of a square box on the grass I sent through to you, then seeing the magic you created was 😭🤯🤤😵‍💫😶

Thank you so much to everybody who has emailed, DM’d, shared their thoughts about Camp and has cried out for it to happen again. It obviously means the world to me how much this vision of community has resonated with everybody. I have spent so much of my life advocating for a world just like this, and to see how it connected with so many will stay with me for a long time.
