Okay, so, The Year In didn't quite come to fruition this year for the following reasons:

A) I was a naive idiot. I assumed that in NZ around 150-200 albums would come out a year, around 3-4 a week. I got that very wrong. My new estimation is around 500+, maybe as many as two a day, gawd. This totally changes the way in which I'd planned to approach this project. 

B) Something happened late last year which meant that a legit awards format may be taken on by someone I respect and I decided rather than launch this short term concept prematurely, to look to work in with them to establish something more lasting. (stay tuned)
C) I've already spent 5 years considering how to do this new format...what's another year or so? :) I was able to solve at least one problem I identified in that there previously was no easy way of finding a list of all the music released in a given year. 2014 is below...

D) One of the key reasons I was doing this - to not let people forget about great releases, well, I came up with a FAR better way of making sure that happens than this, and this is in production at the moment (stay tuned also)
