There are a few stories in the book about how amazing European venues are for looking after bands, thought I’d share one in NZ that is just as awesome. There’s a little shop in Hunterville called ‘Lucky’ that sells (among other things) CDs and records by NZ artists (and Australian artists who tour – they also have just about every issue of A Low Hum). We played an instore there when Pairs (China) came over and Georgie (the awesome lady who runs the shop) actually met us at the door with a platter of cold Double Browns, inside there was fresh coffee, sandwiches quiche and a bunch of other food. They’d invited everybody in Hunterville along and there was a bigger crowd than some of our Auckland shows. Seriously play shows in Hunterville, it’s rad!
Also some rad dude tried to put together a list of every band in Auckland and contact details for touring bands, not sure how long it will remain accurate but it’s a pretty good resource if you don’t know any Aucklanders: https://www.facebook.com/groups/187143628038035/?ref=ts
